DA enables remote Windows workstations to access the UConn network without traditional VPN connections. ITS enabled this feature on our System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) managed Windows workstations. It allowed them to be effectively managed, even when off-site. Microsoft has formally deprecated DA and announced that they will no longer develop it. All DA support will eventually stop. They highly recommend using the newer Always On VPN (AOVPN). It provides a DA like experience but with better performance and security.
In line with these shifts, ITS will be removing DA from our SCCM managed workstations and enabling AOVPN. These migrations will take place over the next few months and are scheduled to be completed by Tuesday, June 4th, at which time we will fully decommission the legacy DA service.
