ITS is enhancing the security of our email environment. On Friday, January 9th, ITS will deploy Abnormal AI Email Security, which will complement our existing Microsoft 365 protections and further reduce email-based risk.

Abnormal AI is designed to detect sophisticated threats, such as advanced phishing and vendor and payroll fraud, by analyzing behavioral patterns rather than relying only on traditional signatures.

Abnormal has been running in audit mode for the past month, allowing us to evaluate its effectiveness without impacting mail flow. During this time, we observed strong detection results with only a small number of false positives. Based on this testing, we expect Abnormal to improve security without significantly increasing the number of legitimate emails blocked.
