ITS has begun a campaign to encourage our UConn community to set password recovery options for their NetID accounts. NetID password recovery options are secret questions/answers or alternate contact information associated with an account and are used by individuals to reset forgotten passwords using the self-service feature on netid.uconn.edu. Password recovery is a common support request of the Technology Support Center, and the more efficient self-service feature would benefit many. Since 2013, anyone joining the University and creating a NetID account has been required to set password recovery options. While we recommended that everybody do this, it was not required for accounts created before 2013, and ITS has now begun a campaign to encourage setting recovery options on all accounts as a best practice. We have begun preliminary messaging to individuals as the remaining program details are finalized.
