Expanded access to MATLAB

Expanded access to the MathWorks MATLAB software will be available to UConn faculty, staff, and students on all campuses, including Farmington, beginning July 1, 2016.The MathWorks MATLAB software product integrates computation, visualization, and programming and is widely used at the University. Traditionally, ITS purchased floating licenses for this software, which ultimately restricted the number of individuals with access at any one time.  There was feedback that this was limiting and resulted in unavoidable license contention.  In response, ITS, the School of Business, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and the School of Engineering have partnered to buy an institutional site license allowing unlimited access to the base environment and a broad collection of toolboxes. Faculty, staff, and students will be able to install the software on institutionally owned equipment as well as on a personally owned device.  Additional information is available at http://software.uconn.edu/matlab/.  For more information about the licensing agreement and our UConn-specific plan for implementation, contact Rick Portuguez at rick.portuguez@uconn.edu.
