Changes to VPN Service

The University’s move to a mostly remote learning and working environment over the past year has put a strain on many of our capabilities.  For example, our Pulse Secure Virtual Private Network (VPN) service has had a dramatic rise in use, and we have received feedback from the community that there were frequent bottlenecks and other issues.  In response, ITS has pursued a new VPN solution that is better designed to operate at a scale consistent with increased telecommuting and to more effectively meet our three most common needs – managed devices (ITS and non-ITS), BYOD, and privileged access.  The new infrastructure will be deployed by early August.  Use of the service will require a new client, and we will communicate with our community extensively to support their transition.  Pulse Secure will remain available until use of the legacy service has substantively decreased.
