ITS has started the multi-year project to modernize identity and access management (IAM) at UConn. This project involves three major changes: evolution of identity data, implementation of SailPoint for access management, and a transition to Microsoft Entra for authentication. When completed, the University will have a more robust, secure IAM system that will improve performance and reliability for application owners and end users.
This project has university-wide impact and will affect, to varying degrees, the over 1,000 applications hosted at UConn. Specifically, most applications must migrate to Microsoft Entra ID for login and be onboarded to SailPoint for centralized access management. ITS will be contacting application owners, with an initial focus on applications that contain sensitive data, to make these changes.
For a detailed explanation about this project, please attend or watch the upcoming presentation, “Modernizing Identity: What’s Next for IAM at UConn,” by Kevin Brown, IAM Manager, and Lara Juenger, IAM Data Architect. The presentation will be held at 10:00 am on February 17th and streamed live at https://s.uconn.edu/SU304B.
