Receive ITS Communications

ITS sends out message to our IT Contacts list. This list is made up of two distribution groups – IT Professionals and IT Stakeholders.

The members of the IT Professionals group typically serve in an IT-related position.  ITS staff are automatically added to this group, but it also contains other IT staff at the university.  Members of the IT Stakeholders group do not primarily provide IT services or support but may have a vested interest in knowing about our initiatives or may have a greater need for details associated with IT services or issues. Typically, we communicate to the encompassing IT Contacts list to provide information about initiatives, issues, and scheduled outages.  This information is specifically pitched to be generally useful to community members in all of their varied roles.  Occasionally, we have more technically rich or process heavy content, which may be less accessible or relevant to members in the IT Stakeholders group.  We send this to the IT Professionals distribution group only.
Except for ITS staff, management of these lists has been a manual process; members are added or removed upon request.  We recognize that awareness of these groups may not be widespread. To promote access to crucial or even just helpful information about IT at UConn, we are promoting self-service access to these groups.  Anyone at UConn may choose to join or leave either group, although we would encourage selection of the group that most closely aligns with your needs.  Instructions on how to join these distribution groups is available by searching for “Receive ITS Communications” in the UConn Knowledge Base (kb.uconn.edu).
