GPT-4o Powered AI Available to UConn

Our UConn community has two AI technologies available to them through the University’s Microsoft license: Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat and Microsoft 365 Copilot.

Both AI assistants are powered by the same GPT-4o model as ChatGPT, offering capabilities such as creating content, summarizing information, and updating images. Both are also fully secure under our agreement with Microsoft, which means they are safe to use with institutional data. As long as you are signed in with UConn credentials, prompts, the information retrieved, and the responses generated remain protected and are not used to train the underlying AI models.

Everyone with a Microsoft 365 license from UConn has access to Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat. It’s available at copilot.microsoft.com or bing.com (click the Copilot icon).

Microsoft 365 Copilot requires a paid license, but you get more. It integrates with Microsoft apps (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and can serve as your personal assistant, helping you manage your inbox and calendar, summarize meetings, analyze data, and design presentations. Currently, licenses are only available to faculty and staff, but we are working with Microsoft on options for students. Interested employees can purchase a license for $30/month through ITS: software.uconn.edu/software/copilot-for-microsoft-365/
