ITS has expanded self-service capabilities for the Kaltura Lecture Capture (KLC) service. Self-service recording is now part of the standard classroom technology package and self-service live streaming available in lecture halls and large venues.
KLC is a simple, streamlined software-based tool used to record and publish video, audio, and screen captures from courses or events. ITS selectively introduced KLC self-service recording in a limited number of classrooms in 2017, which enabled instructors to capture their presentations without making previous arrangements. This enhancement was well received by instructors and for this semester, ITS has included self-service recording in our standard classroom technology package. We have also added self-service live streaming in over 30 lecture halls on Storrs campus and in specific classrooms at the Avery Point, Hartford, and Stamford campuses. This new capability allows instructors to share content in real-time with multiple campuses and with students unable to physically attend classes.
