We are writing share our plans to manage IT services during the upcoming planned power outage.
On Wednesday, May 29 at 4:00 am, Facilities Operations will shut down campus-wide utility power for approximately two hours to test emergency power systems. During this time, the ITS Data Center locations in the Gant Science Complex, Homer Babbidge Library, and Chemistry building will run on generator power, and there should be no interruptions to power or service. If an issue does arise with the power supplied by the generators, Facilities Operations will immediately stop the test and restore campus power.
For the remainder of the buildings on the Storrs Campus, network connectivity, both wired and wireless, will be unavailable for the duration of the power outage. Once power has been restored to a building, the network equipment will require up to 30 minutes to restart and restore service. ITS will have technicians on-site to assess and address any issues when the equipment is powered back up.
We will communicate with you once service restoration is complete. If any network issues persist, contact the ITS Technology Support Center at 860.486.4357. Please also feel free to reach out to us directly with comments, questions, or concerns.
