ITS’s in-house developed Soapbox Announcement System provides the capability to send out announcements specific to schools, colleges, divisions or departments. Soapbox is akin to the University’s Daily Digest announcements.

ITS provides and supports the University’s Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs) at all campuses, the School of Law and most University Affiliate locations. ITS offers both encrypted and unencrypted wireless services to accommodate faculty, staff and students, and visitors to UConn.

Higher education best practices requires the University of Connecticut to assess the potential of new software and the role of existing software on a continuing basis. To this end, ITS has been charged with the following responsibilities:
The University has a separate Microsoft Campus Agreement that allows installation of certain software for no charge on University-owned machines.

ITS delivers virtualized software to the university through UConn AnyWare.
Software can be accessed remotely through either Apps or Desktop. Both give you access to the same software but differ in delivery. With AnyWare Apps, you select only the applications you wish to use. With AnyWare Desktop (formerly Skybox), you connect to a Microsoft Windows virtual desktop that includes all the available software.

ITS offers G Suite (formerly Google Apps for Education) for student cloud storage. Students automatically have access through their Gmail accounts. Faculty and staff may opt-in to use Google Drive for virtual storage.
