New course catalog search tool

A new course search tool is available at catalog.uconn.edu.

PeopleSoft Student Administration (Student Admin) is the authoritative system of record for university course data.  The Office of the Registrar manually maintained an Undergraduate Catalog website as a complementary resource.  We received feedback that the Registrar needed efficient catalog update mechanisms and that students needed better catalog search capabilities.  ITS worked with the Office of the Registrar to develop a plugin that would satisfy both.  It pulls and displays data directly from Student Admin and also contains advanced search, sort, and filter features.  The plugin improves accuracy, saves time, and offers students flexibility in identifying courses that meet their academic requirements and intellectual interests.  The improved course listing is available on the Undergraduate Catalog website at catalog.uconn.edu/course-search/.

Other institutional units can access the plugin and customize the data shown by adjusting parameters.  If you are interested in incorporating this tool into an existing website, contact the Web Development team at webdev@uconn.edu.
