Software Licensing & Distribution

Higher education best practices requires the University of Connecticut to assess the potential of new software and the role of existing software on a continuing basis. To this end, ITS has been charged with the following responsibilities:

  • Assess software needs for instructional computer laboratories and facilities, high technology classrooms, and administrative desktops (HuskyPC)
  • Identify the appropriate software to respond to those needs
  • Negotiate licenses
  • Distribute software in accordance with the language in the license

The University has a separate Microsoft Campus Agreement that allows installation of certain software for no charge on University-owned machines.
